Stunning house with a yellow front door

On-trend aluminium windows and doors installed in Whitstable Kent

The property

On-trend colour choice for AluK windows and doors by the owners of a stunning refurbishment in Whitstable Kent.

Ultimate Grey and Illuminating Yellow are the Pantone Colours of the Year for 2021, which has increased their popularity and demand amongst customers. This particular grey and yellow combination was used throughout the property to create a distinct contrast to the contemporary cladding and render.

Almost all of the walls in the house were demolished due to water damage as part of a nine-month refurbishment. The house had been empty for around two years before work started and the homeowners were excited to see what the transformation would bring.

Why they approached us

The owners had a positive experience with AluK when they had installed AluK aluminium windows and doors in their previous property, and had been very impressed with the quality, style and durability, particularly for a coastal location. Conditions differ from inland homes; the salty air and windy weather can be damaging for seaside properties, so it is even more important to use high quality windows and doors. The homeowners had no hesitation in choosing our products again and worked with one of our trusted fabricators – Rhino Aluminium, along with installer SG Installations to complete the glazing installation.

The solution

Using the architect’s drawings, Rhino Aluminium recommended windows in AluK’s slim sightline 58BW system throughout, with four aluminium BSF70 bi-folding doors and a structurally-bonded aluminium panel front door in a suited AluK 58BD frame.

The result

The large expanses of glass meant the thermal efficiency of the AluK windows and doors was paramount to ensure that the house could comply with Building Regulations. Double glazed, the BRE Green Guide A-rated 58BW windows and BSF70 bifold doors achieved U-values of 1.4W/m2K. These products enabled the owners to achieve a modern look and feel, and optimise the light coming into the house and garden room, making the most of their view.

Andrew McCann from Rhino Aluminium commented: “We worked with the owners from a very early stage in the project so that they could manage the project and the budget as effectively as possible. One key recommendation we made was to upgrade the entrance door powder coating to a textured finish. The entrance to any property is the focal point of the exterior and particularly in this stunning yellow, so a textured finish AluK door added a touch of distinctive elegance."
