Bifolding doors remain one of the most popular and aspirational home improvement choices for homeowners in the UK, and it’s easy to see why.
They are the only door option which let you open up your entire room to the garden and create a truly flowing inside/outside space. Even when they are closed, they can make you feel more connected to the outside so you can really see the passing of the seasons. (There’s more on the enduring popularity of the bifold here.)
In the UK, AluK is probably best known for our hugely popular BSF70 bifold door, which has been installed in tens of thousands of homes across the country over the past 15 years or so.
We’ve just added a new door to our range though, which we think sets a new bar for contemporary design and premium quality – hence the fact that we have christened it ‘IconiK’.
For AluK, IconiK is probably the perfect illustration of the ‘less is more’ principle of design.
The system has been designed with less frame - sightlines are ultra slim at just 80mm around the frame and 87mm at the interlock, so there is more glass and more natural light. There is also less visible hardware on show, for a more sleek and minimalist finish.
And there are also bigger maximum panel sizes of 2400mm high x 1200mm wide, so you get more wow factor, less obstructions in wider openings and more garden views.
Iconik bifolds even take less effort to open than other doors, because they incorporate a clever new half roller system which means they glide more smoothly.
The new AluK IconiK bifold is available in both open in and open out configurations to suit the style and layout of any house and garden and, if you want single doors or double doors to match your bifold, you even have the option to do that in the same slimline profiles. And market leading thermal efficiency - 1.3 W/m²K (double glazed) and an outstanding 1.0 W/m²K (triple glazed) - means you get all the warmth and performance you need.
And of course, bifolds add more than just visual appeal to your home. They add value too – with some estate agents estimating that they add between 5 and 10% to a property’s purchase price.
