58BW – the flexible window platform

Whether you’re renovating a period property, upgrading a family home or designing a new build, AluK’s 58BW window system lets you choose just the right style for your project.

If you want conventional slim sightline casements, industrial chic heritage windows or almost anything in between, you can have exactly that with the 58BW – without the bespoke price tag.

That’s because it’s a platform based system with a core offering of frames and sashes which you combine and configure to suit your precise requirements.

You start by deciding on the style of the sashes – and that can be standard casement sashes with frame to vent sightlines or around 79mm, steel replacement/slim sashes with sightlines of just 71mm, or even flush casement sashes, which are a great alternative to timber windows. Within each style, there are also different sash edges available (stepped, putty line or flat) to give the windows either a contemporary or a more traditional look.

You also then decide on the frame depth you need – the 58BW system comes in either 58 or 70mm depths depending on the age and style of your property (58mm is normally used for replacements and 70mm for new builds where the window cavity is deeper).

And the final choice is the configuration. Casement windows open out as standard, but if you want frames that open in, then you can choose 58BW frames in tilt and turn mode.

You can even choose different 59BW configurations in one property and still achieve a consistent and coordinated look with the same slim sightlines and the same finish throughout.

Your installer will be able to guide you through all these choices and advise on the maximum sizes achievable and on all the other important considerations – from the glazing to the hardware and the locking system.
